So excited to be partnering with Los Angeles’ CAAM (California African American Museum) for our latest theatrical expedition, which centers on two wonderful women authors active in the 1920s whose work often explored themes and frameworks not typical of the time.
Not typical of the time = Anyhaus favorites
The experimental and poignant brain-snack “Exit: An Illusion” (1929) is the last known extant play of essayist, award-winning playwright and short story author Marita Bonner.
Journalist, teacher, playwright and poet Angelina Weld Grimké, who came from a prominent family of abolitionists and was one of the first Black women to have a play publicly performed, explored dark themes with an almost quaint sense of wonder and mirth in her poetry.

Join us for a surrealistic Saturday afternoon, March 13, 2021 at 2:00PM as we celebrate these works. RSVP here. See you there!
